Korea’s only ‘Amgakhwa Exhibition Center’ will open in Ulsan.

Ulsan City announced that on May 30th it would hold an opening ceremony for the three-story ‘Ulsan Amgakhwa Exhibition Center’ which was constructed from January last year at 333-1 Cheongjeon-ri, Doodong-myeon, Ulju-gun with a total investment of 7.151 million KRW. The opening ceremony will be held at the square in front of Amgakhwa Exhibition Center at 3:00 PM with 300 people including Mayor of Ulsan, Park Maeng-woo, former professor of Donguk University, Moon Myeong-dae who is the first discoverer of Cheonjeonrigakseok and Bangudae Amgakhwa, presidents of institutions and organizations, specialists on Amgakhwa, and citizens. The ceremony will be composed of a pre-opening event (drama), an opening ceremony (a progress report, formal address, and congratulatory address), an after-ceremony event (a performance by the City dance group, a plate hanging ceremony, the tape-cutting, an exhibition tour, and a party).The major facilities on the ground floor include an exhibition place, a children’s zone, archives, seminar rooms, and office space. There are experience zones on the second floor (391㎡) and a machine room in the basement (267㎡). There are one to one mock-up of Bangu Daeamgakhwa and Cheonjeonrigakseok, ‘BanguDaeamgakhwa, Cheonjeonrigakseok,’ which has a 3-D video explanation about various patterns through a real-time broadcasting video, and ‘Amgakhwa in the World,’ which can remind everyone of the significance of Ulsan Amgakhwa.Some of the other exhibits include a pre-history gate, a meeting with Amgakhwa, understanding Amgakhwa, ten thousand years of accomplishments, museum shop, and seminar room.The children’s zones include an experience of agricultural farming in the pre-historic era, living in pre-historic village, pre-historic art room.The experience places in medium floor include various experiencing places with cutting edge information video such as, ‘Finding hunt pattern from Bangudae Amgakhwa,’ ‘Meeting with pre-historic man,’ ‘Fishing for the Bangudae Whale,’ and ‘Photo zone to take pictures with a pre-historic man.’As an incidental event, ‘Invitation Exhibition of Yang Hee-seong and Woo Hyeong-soon for Amgakhwa Painting’ will be held from 28th of May to 29th of June as a commemorative event of opening Ulsan Amgakhwa Exhibition Center.An Ulsan City official said, “This, the nation’s first Amgakhwa Exhibition Center, will be used as a center of education for tourists and students, just as Ulsan City will become the Korean center for historic culture and tourism.”In the meantime, the Society for the Korean Bronze Age (Chairman, Lee Cheong-gyu) invited Professor of Russian Archaeology Research Institute, Kubarev to hold ‘Lecture Meeting for the Value of Bangudae Amgakhwa' with theme of ‘Bangudae Amgakhwa in Eurasian Amgakhwa’ at the grand banquet hall of Family Culture Center on the day 10:30 AM.Also, an ‘Amgakhwa and Religion Committee Workshop’ will be held with the theme of ‘Northern steppe area and Korean peninsula from Amgakhwa and burial ceremony’Olympia Hotel
